So since our last news update quite a bit has happened.
Unfortunately we’ve had to sell Classic Pursuit after a few bad runs
and a number of owners dropping out he was sold to new connections. We
would like to take this time to thank Mick Appleby and his team for
all the good days he’s bought us. He’s been a great servant for us, he
will continue to run for new connections and we will all be keeping an
eye out for him.
EPONA made her 3yr old debut over at Doncaster finishing third. After
a great opening run she has certainly gone backwards and her form
completely tailed of. After further investigation she had a problem
that has progressively got worse with racing. She has now gone for a
little operation and will be back for the end of the season. We expect
to see the best of her once shes back in action.
MACS BLESSINGS won just after the new year and again got his head in
front over at Catterick. He has ran plenty over the last few months,
he’s ran 12 times since the turn of the year winning twice and placing
seven times, the credit has to go to Steff and Barry Keniry for
keeping him in great health,
Last year we headed to Goffs yearling sales at Doncaster, after
purchasing EPONA the year before who won at two we thought the sale
was great value for winners at reasonable prices. We purchased two
colts AMBYFAEIRVINE and OCHRE RIU, both were inexpensive on the grand
scheme of things. Both horses went into training with Ivan furtado at
his new base at Averham in Newark.
AMBYFAEIRVINE started out his 2yr old career over 5f, he was showing
enough at home to suggest he would be early just like his siblings.
After running a few times over 5f it was apparent to us and ivan that
a step up to 6f was certainly on the cards. We sent him to Pontefract
over 6f where he virtually made all from stall 10 under a great ride
from David Allan. We were overjoyed at this victory going to show you
don’t have to spend a lot on these yearlings to get a nice horse. The
horse he beat into second that day is now rated 80 Amby is now rated
70. We feel as long as conditions are right he has a few more wins in
OCHRE RIU was another yearling we purchased from Doncaster. He was
quite a big lad when we bought him and all he has done since is grow.
He’s taken a while to fill and build up but is now near enough ready
to make his debut. He will still be a work in progress but is from a
family full of winners and the Dam is half sister to 100 plus rated
Telwaar. The Dams half sister bred her first foal to win first time
out as a 2yr old so we feel were in a good position with this lad. WE
HAVE A FEW SHARES AVAILABLE IN THIS LAD, CONTACT US FOR MORE DETAILS,
HE WILL MAKE HIS DEBUT IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.
More recently we have purchased our second National hunt horse who
goes into training with OLLY MURPHY. Ever since buying our first
national hunt horse with Olly we have been wanting to get back
involved but just had to wait for the right opportunity. Along came
TIMEFORASPIN who is now in training with Olly and will be ready for a
winter campaign over hurdles. TIMEFORASPIN has placed second and third
in his last two bumper runs and the form has turned out to be pretty
solid with winners of bumpers and hurdle races in front of him and
behind him in those bumper races. It’s going to be an exciting build
up to the National hunt season to see what this lad has under his
bonnet once Olly has filled him with his petrol. If you were looking
at getting involved in a horse for the national hunt season we
couldn’t recommend this lad enough. WE HAVE A FEW SHARES AVAILABLE IN
TIMEFORASPIN but shares are going quick in this unexposed horse.

So sales season is nearly here and FTF Racing will be heading to the
yearling sales again this year. We have now bought three yearlings in
the last two years, two have won as 2yr olds and the third hasn’t ran
just yet but will be debuting in the next couple of weeks. All three
have cost us in total 22k which in this environment is pretty much
pennies which is a pretty proud achievement for a syndicate that is
only 3yrs old and on a shoe string budget. We tend to do the little
things right at the front end of the process which gives us a great
chance of having success at the back end of the process which everyone
gets to enjoy in the winners enclosure. IF YOU ARE WANTING TO GET
INVOLVED OUR NEW YEARLING PURCHASES PLEASE REGISTER INTEREST
Everything we do is to make sure our owners get good value for money
and have a good experience in racing. Syndicates are a great way of
getting involved in the sport and have been given bad press of recent
months. This of course doesn’t help us in the slightest in what were
trying to achieve at FTF but as you can see on out testimonials on out
new website we give every owner a great experience in the sport and
give them every chance of getting into the winners enclosure.
We have organised an OPEN MORNING at Ivan Furtados yard on Saturday
17th August for a 9am start, we get to see our two 2yr olds on the
gallops and also a chance to have a nosy around the yard, plus we can
have a chat to owners and new owners about heading to the yearling
We would like to thanks owners for the continued support and we would
like to welcome all recent new owners joining FTF Racing.
If your looking at getting involved in racehorse ownership why not
drop us an email or phone call, we can have a chat about ownership and
see what type of ownership would suit your needs.
